Biographie

Michal Hogenauer (b.1984, Prague) has always been interested in film, and his amateur movies won several prizes. After working as a stand-in for Elijah Wood on the film Everything Is Illuminated, he decided to study film direction at Prague’s FAMU. He completed his bachelor’s degree with a dissertation on the work of Michael Haneke and the short film Children Watching Night Trains, which was screened in 2009 at the Premiere Plans festival in Angers and also won the main prize in the National Short Film Competition at Ostrava Kamera Oko (International Cinematographers Festival). He studied photography for a year at the Art Academy in Bergen, Norway. His graduate film Tambylles was screened at Cannes in the Cinéfondation competition. He is currently a programmer for the Fresh Film Fest and is working on the script for his feature-length debut.
