Biographie
Mabel Cheung (1950, Guangdong, China) divides her time between directing and producing films. Her critically acclaimed debut, The Illegal Immigrant (1985), forms a "migrant trilogy" together with An Autumn's Tale (1987) and Eight Taels of Gold (1989). In The Soong Sisters (1997), she offered her perception of emergence of the Chinese Republic through the prism of three leading politicians' wives.
