Ileana Leyva studied French literature and CUEC-UNAM film school. Her short film Hay quienes matan porque quisieron amar y nadie les dijo cómo participated in the Lithuanian Horror Film Festival, the CUECUNAM film festival, and the Macabre Film Festival in Mexico City. Her short De causas y azares won first place in the Mexico Video category at the ShortShorts festival and was shown at other national festivals and on the television programs “Corto circuito” (Channel 22) and “En cortito” (Channel 40). Her film thesis, Crónica de un instante (Chronical of an Instant), based on the novel Farabeuf, by Salvador Elizondo, received support from the Filmoteca of the UNAM, the CIE group (Altavista Films), the Mexico City Culture Secretariat.
