Biographie

Vania Catani is a Brazilian Producer that has been the head of Bananeira Filmes, one of the most prestigious production companies in Brazil, for 15 years. It has produced 21 features and five short films. The company’s movies have been screened at over 250 festivals in approximately 40 countries and have been given more than 160 awards. Among them, the following works stand out: The Storytellers, directed by Eliane Caffé, The Dead Girl’s Feast, by Matheus Nachtergaele, selected for the Un Certain Regard section of the 2008 Cannes Festival, The Clown, by Selton Mello, which was the country’s choice to run the Oscar race for Best Foreign Language Film, and Kill Me Please, which premiered at the 2015 Venice International Film Festival. In 2017 the company released A Movie Life, the third feature by Selton Mello, Whirlpool, by José Luiz Villamarim and Desert, by Guilherme Weber. The co-productions La playa (Colombia), El Ardor (Argentina) and Jauja (Argentina) premiered at Cannes Film Festival.
