Erika Avila

Biographie

She holds a Bachelor’s in Film Studies by the University Center for Film Studies, Centro Universitario de Estudios Cinematográficos (CUEC) by the Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). She is the producer of Sueño en otro idioma, directed by Ernesto Contreras, winner of the Sundance Festival Audience Award in 2017 among other international and national prizes. Erika is the producer of Un mundo Secreto, the elected feature at Berlin’s International Film Festival in the section Generation, 2012. Párpados Azules, her first long feature as a producer, won her the Ariel prize for best debut film, the jury’s special prize at Sundance Film Festival, best Ibero-American long feature at the International Film Festival of Guadalajara, and a nomination for the Golden Camera at Cannes in 2007, where she was presented during the week for film critics. Erika has been a jouror at numerous international and national funds, project development advisor and production lecturer in the most important film schools in Mexico. As a producer, she has realized tens of long and short features, commercials and videos as well as developed long feature films and signature projects since 2008 to the present at Agencia SHA production house where she is a member.
