Biographie
Holt McCallany is a busy actor on both the big and small screens. He has appeared in such acclaimed feature films as David Fincher's "Fight Club," David O. Russell's "Three Kings," Brian De Palma's "Casualties of War," and in Walter Hill's upcoming "Bullet to the Head." He worked alongside George Clooney and Nicole Kidman in "The Peacemaker" and Robert DeNiro in "Men of Honor." His other credits include the actioners "Vantage Point" and "The Losers," the crime thriller "Jade," and Lawrence Kasdan's comedy "Mumford." His future projects include the sci-fi thriller "White Space," and the horror film "The Ganzfeld Experiment."
McCallany has also worked extensively in television, receiving critical acclaim for his starring role in FX's boxing drama "Lights Out," which also starred Stacy Keach and Catherine McCormack. He has also appeared in such hit shows as "Burn Notice," "CSI: Miami," "Law & Order," "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "Criminal Minds," "Medium" and "Heroes." He is currently filming CBS's "Golden Boy," from executive producer Greg Berlanti.
McCallany was born into a family of New York City performers, his mother a legendary cabaret singer and his father a Tony Award-winning producer and actor. He began school in Dublin, Ireland at the age of five before his parents moved to New York. Following high school, he went to France to continue his education. He learned French at the Sorbonne, studied art history at the Paris American Academy, and theater at L'Ecole Marceau and L'Ecole Jacques Lecoq. He spent a summer studying Shakespeare in Oxford and later joined the production of "Twelfth Night" at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland before moving back to the States.
