Kevin Thompson

Biographie

Thompson won an Art Directors Guild (ADG) Award for Excellence in Production Design for a Contemporary Film for Alejandro González Iñárritu's Birdman: or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance). He also designed George Nolfi's romantic thriller The Adjustment Bureau, which starred Matt Damon and Emily Blunt, as well as Jason Reitman's Young Adult, which starred Charlize Theron.

For his work on Tony Gilroy's Oscar®-nominated Michael Clayton, which starred Clooney and Tilda Swinton, Thompson was nominated by the ADG for the Excellence in Production Design for a Contemporary Film award. Thompson went on to collaborate with Gilroy again on the thriller Duplicity, which starred Roberts and Clive Owen, and The Bourne Legacy, which starred Jeremy Renner and Rachel Weisz.

Thompson served as production designer on Marc Forster's acclaimed fantasy-drama Stranger Than Fiction, which starred Will Ferrell. He previously collaborated with Forster on the 2005 thriller Stay, which starred Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts. Thompson's other film credits include Did You Hear About the Morgans?, which starred Sarah Jessica Parker and Hugh Grant; Michael Haneke's 2007 remake of Funny Games; the sleeper hit Igby Goes Down, which starred Kieran Culkin; Bart Freundlich's Trust the Man and World Traveler; Birth, which starred Nicole Kidman; The Yards, which starred Mark Wahlberg and Joaquin Phoenix; 54, which starred Ryan Phillippe and Salma Hayek; Down to You, which starred Julia Stiles and Freddie Prinze, Jr.; Kicked in the Head; James Toback's Two Girls and a Guy, which starred Heather Graham and Robert Downey Jr.; Cindy Sherman's Office Killer; Ismail Merchant's The Proprietor; Larry Clark's controversial film Kids; Little Odessa, which starred Tim Roth and Vanessa Redgrave; Party Girl, which starred Parker Posey; and David O. Russell's Flirting With Disaster.

Prior to his work in feature films, Thompson began his career as an architect and went on to design sets for short films, commercials, theater and music videos. His short-film credits include Spike Jonze's Dog Boy, Tom Kalin's Urban Legends and Tamara Jenkins' Family Remains.
