He moved to San Diego, California when he was eight years old. He studied literature and religion at Reed College. Alter graduating; he worked in several experimental film projects in San Francisco. Between 2001 and 2003, he studied filmmaking at the Lodz Film School in Poland. In 2007, he obtained a Master’s degree in filmmaking from San Diego State University. He is a recent candidate for the mfa Visual Arts Program of the University of California, San Diego. His films have been shown at various international festivals.
