Biographie

Martín Rejtman (b. 1961) was born in Buenos Aires where he lived until he was 21. In 1981 he moved to the US to study film at New York University. He later worked in Italy as an assistant editor at Cinecittá Studios. Before directing his own films he worked as an assistant director on various productions. In 1992 Rejtman directed his first feature, Rapado. The film was shown at Locarno, Rotterdam and other film festivals. In 1999 he directed his second feature film, Silvia Prieto, which was screened, for example, at the Sundance Festival and in Berlin, San Sebastian, San Francisco, Munich, London, Vienna, Salonika and Nantes, where it won awards for Best Screenplay and Best Actress. The film was shown also at Karlovy Vary in 2001. Rejtman directed a number of short films and, in addition to being a filmmaker, is also a writer. His books have been published both in Argentina and in Europe. The Magic Gloves (Los guantes mágicos, 2003) is his third feature.
