Iranian director, screenwriter and editor. Born in 1962 in Tehran, he is a filmmaking graduate of the Tehran Cinema College. Short story writer, film editor and director of many short films. His first feature film, "Traveller from the South" (1997), as well as his second film "Whispers" (2000) were screened at countless festivals, bringing him international recognition and several awards along the way. In 2003 his third film, "Deep Breath", was selected for the Directors' Fortnight section of the Cannes festival and was screened in Pusan, wining the FIPRESCI award. "Malaria" is his latest feature.
